11th & 12th Early Modern History

By Monday, March 23rd - Write an essay answering ONE of the following writing prompts:

1) Pope Urban VIII once said, “If there is a God, Cardinal Richelieu has a lot to answer for. If there be none, he certainly has had a successful career.”

What is Pope Urban saying about Cardinal Richelieu? Use examples from Richelieu’s career to expound on Pope Urban’s words.

2) Why did the Turks decline in strength following Suleiman’s reign?

 

By Friday, March 27th - Read all of Chapter 19 (copies were handed out on Monday the 23rd, but the digital version of this chapter is also below).
